Are authorities of group or users in effect?

Answer

A new user group record may be added via F9 = New user from the display of all users and record type 1. For this record, no user profile is allowed to exist within OS/400.

The group profile record itself does not impact access control. The fields from the endusers record are of importance.

The group profile record is placaeholder only for access authorities stored below like e.g. library- and data records.

Via F10 = Update a user can be added to the group.

If the group name is specified for a user, searching for e.g. a library record will be performed at the group in the first program execution of the exit programms.

Up to 5 user groups are allowed.

The number of groups 1 -5 is being displayed. If it is displayed in green, no controlling will be performed for the users data authorities.

Group QNEW is being displayed by N.

If data authorities of a user shall be controlled, he has to be entered as one of the 5 groups.

The user may complete each position.

Up to now, searching has been performed at group first, then at the user.

The sequence now may be reversed.

If data authorities are being checked in addtion to group authorities, the display will appear in white.

In addition, checking will always be performed to find out wheter this access is *PUPLIC, that ist wheter the corresponding record is stored for user QDEFAULT.
