Why do no authority data exist for new users ?

Are logged records not being converted into access authorites automatically?

Yes, via new command CVTPCSLOG. So that this command is effective, the following conditions are to
be kept

A new field Automatically convert log data via CVTPCSLOG ? exists on the fifth page of the user record. If this field is set to 1, command CVTPCSLOG will call program LOGPCS in order to convert logged records into access data.

On this screen V will be displayed on the right side, if field Automatically convert log data via CVTPCSLOG ? = 1.

Caution: Field Automatically convert log data via CVTPCSLOG ? can only be changed to value 1 if either field test mode of the user record contains value 1 or 2 or if the following fields do not contain the specified values:

This ensures that rejected accesses of controlled users will not be converted into access authorities automatically.

How can command CVTPCSLOG be run automatically ?

Use the following command: ADDJOBSCDE (Command CHGPCS, option 3 and option 10)

in order to execute CVTPCSLOG e.g. daily at 8 a.m.

After the installation new users are so adjusted, which the command CVTPCSLOG works.


For specific conversion into access authorities for single users or single log records, the following 3 solutions exist:

1. Conversion of single records into access authorities

Call display of log records by specifying L:

Single records can be converted into access authorities by specifying S. Changing the recepient is possible. If QDEFAULT is being specified, access is being allowed for *PUBLIC.

By entering G, authorities of a group can be assigned. This method is intended especially for production environments where accesses have been rejected, in order to have them rapidly and easily converted into authority records.

2. Conversion of all log entries from the log display:

To convert all log entries into access authorities via batch, function key F7 has to be used:

The recepient also can be selected in this window. It is also possible to specify a group, if the user belongs to a group. A date and time can be specified for beginning and ending of processing. Execution has to be confirmed by pressing function key F2.

3. Conversion of all log entries from the user menu:

S has to be specified for each user to be converted or G for conversion into a group. Execution has to be confirmed by pressing function key F17. The following window will appear:

A batch job can be started from this display for each selected user by specifying 1.

This display is intended especially for conversion of log data into access authorities e.g. weekly for all users marked with L at the right.
